Travel & Research Grants
The Society offers schemes to support members to communicate their science at conferences, develop collaborations and experience research in different environments.
Eligible members of the Society can apply for a Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) Meeting Attendance Grant. Please see the FEMS Grants page for details.
Enquiries about these schemes should be made in writing to the Grants Office.
Applications should be submitted by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), giving the grant name in the subject line.
Funds are available to eligible members to support their attendance at the Annual Conference or one other Society meeting per year.
Funds are available to support eligible members presenting work at scientific or education meetings. Eligible members may also apply for funding to attend a short course or training event.
The Society offers grants of up to £3,000 to support members who are planning a short (one- to three-month) research visit to another laboratory. This scheme supports innovative projects within established collaborations and the development of new collaborative initiatives.
The Society offers a limited number of awards to enable undergraduates to work on microbiological research projects during the summer vacation. Applications must be made by the project supervisor on behalf of a named student.
The Microbiology Society awards a prize to a Member presenting a poster or offered paper at the Society's Annual Conference or Irish Division meeting.
