Education

Through our Communications Committee, we are committed to Policy educationensuring that the science and skills of microbiology are suitably represented throughout the education systems in the UK. By collaborating with other bodies, we actively support all aspects of science education policy affecting ages 4 to 18.

We respond to education consultations in collaboration with other learned societies through the Royal Society of Biology and Science Community Representing Education (SCORE). We feel that this strategic collaboration strengthens our influence. Copies of submitted responses that are available and have been made public can be found through the SCORE homepage.

We currently represent the Royal Society of Biology on the SCORE committee and the SCORE Practical Work in Science Committee and, through the Royal Society of Biology, we also sit on committees concerning National Curriculum Review, GCSE Science examinations and A-level reform.

As determined by the Microbiology Society Council and the Communications Committee, and with valuable input from members, we work with other learned societies, charities and government bodies to advance our education policy work in support of microbiology.

If you are interested in any aspect of science policy in UK schools or colleges, please contact our Education and Outreach Manager on education@microbiologysociety.org.
