Volunteers for our 75th Anniversary Working Group

27 July 2017

75 anniversary working group

In 2020, the Microbiology Society will celebrate its 75th birthday with a year-long series of activities that showcase the work of our members and the history of the organisation.

We need Microbiology Society members to help us plan these events, and are looking for volunteers to join our ‘75th Anniversary Working Group’.

Professor Maggie Smith, the Society’s General Secretary, will chair the group and we’re looking for representatives from different disciplines, career stages and locations. The group will meet three or four times per year in 2018 and 2019 so that we can generate ideas, produce materials, and get ready to celebrate!

Sarah Buckman, Director of Strategy and Members’ Programmes said of the project: “The Society has come a long way since our original 241 members met in February 1945; we want our 75th year to celebrate the amazing things our members have achieved, and to look ahead at the future of the discipline.”

If you are interested in being considered for the Working Group please email Sarah at [email protected].
