Social events at Annual Conference 2017

09 December 2016

Social programme

The Microbiology Society Annual Conference 2017 is taking place 3–6 April at the EICC in Edinburgh. This year, the Society has organised a host of activities for delegates attending the event.

On Monday 3 April, join us at the Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh for our quiz night, where we’ll put your trivia, celebrity, sporting and microbiological knowledge to the test! Teams will be of up to eight people, and can be arranged in advance or set up on the night, giving everyone the chance to get involved. Tickets cost £25 and include a two-course meal and a welcome drink. There will also be a cash bar on site.

On Wednesday 5 April, we’ll be hosting a ceilidh night at The Hub. The evening’s band will be the highly recommended Reel Time, who will help raise you from your seats and help you learn some traditional (but simple) ceilidh dancing! Tickets cost £50 and include a five-option buffet and a half-bottle of wine. Again, a cash bar will be available on site.

Tickets for these events can be bought online when registering for the Conference, but hurry, as availability is limited for both events.

Abstract submission for Annual Conference 2017 closes soon, at 23:59 on Monday 12 December 2016. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to present your research to peers, colleagues and experts from across the field of microbiology.

The Annual Conference is open to members and non-members alike. However, joining the Society gives you access to a discount on registration costs. When registering, eligible early career delegates can choose to enter the Sir Howard Dalton Young Microbiologist of the Year Competition – see our website for details.
