Every year, the Microbiology Society provides grants to help support members in attending and presenting their work at our Annual Conference. Now that the abstract deadline for the Annual Conference has passed, members will be interested in upcoming deadlines for support to attend and present their work in in Edinburgh.

There are two grants supporting members at different stages of their career: Society Conference Grants and Travel Grants. Apply now so we can help you get to Annual Conference 2017, held this year from 3–6 April in Edinburgh, UK.

Our Society Conference Grants provide funds for early career members (postgraduates and postdoctoral researchers, or equivalent) presenting work at the Annual Conference. We can also fund technicians to attend if it benefits their professional development, and eligible retired members if it benefits the professional development of early career delegates. These grants offer a contribution to the costs of Conference attendance and can be used for registration, travel or accommodation. Members may also apply for an additional contribution to support the cost of caring requirements – for example, child care costs, the cost of bringing a carer to the Conference, or similar.

While no minimum membership period applies, applicants are advised to renew or join the Society before the deadline of 30 January 2017.

The Society also offers Travel Grants to support members who are ineligible for Society Conference Grants. The deadline for application is 1 March and a minimum membership period applies. These grants can be used as a contribution to costs associated with attending Annual Conference 2017.
