FIS 2017

This year’s Federation of Infection Societies (FIS) Conference will be held from 30 November–2 December at the ICC in Birmingham. The meeting will bring together researchers and clinicians for a packed programme of talks on all aspects of infection prevention and control.

Early bird registration rates offer significant savings for delegates, and additional discounts are available for Microbiology Society members. Early bird registration ends on 14 July.

Abstract submissions are also open, on a range of subjects – successful abstract authors will receive an extra 10% off their registration fee.  More information on abstract submission can be found on the event’s website.

The Microbiology Society will be hosting a session at the event, ‘The conundrum of polymicrobial infection diagnosis: if it’s on the pitch, is it interfering with play?’, on 30 November.

Professor Sheila Patrick from Queen’s University Belfast is the Microbiology Society’s FIS representative. She said of the event: “FIS is a unique opportunity for delegates to meet and network with clinicians, biomedical scientists, pharmacists and other health professions. With symposia organised by each of the member organisations, this conference is a great place to learn about the current major issues in relation to human infection.”
