Annual Conference 2018

25 September 2017

Annual Conference ICC

The Microbiology Society’s Annual Conference 2018 will be taking place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Birmingham, UK, but the days and dates are slightly different to usual – the event will start on Tuesday 10 April and finish Friday 13 April.

Abstract submission and registration are now open, and we are keen to see as many of you in Birmingham as possible.

Abstract submission will close on Monday 11 December 2017, so make sure to submit before then to be considered for a poster or offered oral presentation. There are plenty of scientific sessions to submit to, including the usual forums and workshops, as well as new topics across our main symposia. Everyone chosen for poster presentations will also be eligible for at least one of the three poster prizes available at the Conference, and eligible Society members will have the option of entering the Sir Howard Dalton Young Microbiologist of the Year competition.

Registration will close on Monday 19 March 2018, although it may close earlier if it is sold out in advance like the 2017 Annual Conference. Make sure you are able to attend by booking now – you can also take advantage of the early bird rate, available until Friday 9 March 2018. We recommend that delegates ensure they have received confirmation of registration before making plans for accommodation and travel, as we cannot accommodate extra bookings if we close registration on a sold-out basis – this is due to venue capacity limits.

Once you have registered, please ensure you make your own plans for accommodation. To assist you, our booking agent, Reservation Highway, has arranged discounted rates at a selection of hotels in Birmingham. If you choose to book through Reservation Highway, please do so by Friday 9 March 2018 so that you can be sure the hotel and type of room you prefer are available.

Please remember to take note of the slightly altered dates before booking your accommodation and travel.
