Events

Connecting microbiologists

Every year our events programme brings together UK and international microbiologists to share and explore the latest research and developments on all aspects of microbiology.

In addition to the scientific content of our progamme, these events also provide delegates the perfect platform to network and develop connections to ensure this community continues to grow and thrive.

As the scientific content of all of our events is derived from our members and committees, we are able to ensure the topics are current, and we welcome contributions and proposals.

We also ensure our members have access to a full list of microbiology events through our free meeting listings.

Events main

Annual Conference

Annual Conference is our flagship event, welcoming over 1,000 microbiologists worldwide. So whether you are a veteran microbiologist or just starting your career, attending our Annual Conference is a must for all of those with an interest in microbiology.

Society events and meetings

At the Society, we provide a number of high quality events and meetings throughout the year. These generally focus on a specific microbiological theme and take place as smaller, more intimate meetings, allowing for informal networking and dedicated time on one subject.

Event proposals and Conference grants

We actively encourage members to complete proposals for both Annual Conference sessions and Focused Meetings to develop our programme each year. You can also apply for a Society-Supported Conference Grant to contribute towards speaker expenses at established events.

Society-supported conferences

The Microbiology Society provides financial support for events held by other organisations in the areas of microbiology and virology.
